| Dorm Life |
![]() Students generally live in the same dorm for two years. In an effort to develop lasting relationships with dorm parents and dorm-mates times in the dorm are filled with the daily life of being a BIG family together. There are planned times where we meet together for devotions and prayer as well as fun nights to hang out together. Each dorm parent also plans ways to celebrate birthdays and other special events. Cheering students on at sporting events, attending plays and concerts, sharing an occasional meal together, or generally hanging out together, life in the dorm is intended to be a home away from home. Although each dorm is unique in its construction, they each have rooms, bathrooms, showers, a lounge and kitchen for students. The dorm parents’ apartments are attached and open to all students. There are regular dorm duties which are expected of each student in order to keep the dorm and rooms clean. The Titchie (elementary) dorms are designed to provide a facility that is more like a large family residence than a traditional dorm. Every effort is made to make the students feel welcome throughout the living space and not restrict them to "dorm" areas. Family style meals are served in the dorm three times each week, Wednesday dinner and Saturday and Sunday breakfast. Students are expected to be responsible for assisting in food preparation, table setting, table clean-up and dish washing. Students also have daily dorm jobs to help keep the dorm areas and their own rooms clean and organized. The elementary boarding philosophy can be summarized in two simple statements: 1) The goal is to create a home-like environment for our boarding children that exhibits a family atmosphere; and 2) Every effort is made to treat these precious children in the way we would want our own children treated if it were our children in the boarding homes. Dorm parents are expected to care for the physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs of the boarding students. Assistance is also provided with schoolwork and study skills during the evening study time. A number of special weekend activities are planned for the Titchie boarding students each term.
