At RVA there are many opportunities to study in the Fine Arts. The students are able to participate in visual arts as well as performing arts in several areas. In the area of visual arts, students are able to begin art in Kindergarten and continue throughout their years here. At the high school level students may study drawing, painting, pottery, clay sculpture, and production of portfolios. Within the visual arts, RVA offers both introductory level courses and advanced art courses.
Performing arts are also a major part of life at RVA, with students being able to take classes in vocal and instrumental music. Music classes begin in Kindergarten and continue through 6th grade. The fifth and sixth graders perform musicals with an evangelistic message each year, and band begins for our students in sixth grade. Junior High students may also participate in choir and/or band which perform for the school and community.
The Senior High Choir and Wind Ensemble are chosen from students who audition. These groups travel a few times each year to provide ministry opportunities for our students. As staffing permits, the school offers private instrumental, piano, string and voice lessons. AP music theory is also offered as staffing is available. Other areas for students to get involved may be small ensembles, Jazz band, Sr. men's chorus, or worship teams. Students may also participate in the Associated Board of Royal School of Music Exams as RVA is now a licensed testing centre.
