Since RVA is a missionary boarding school, we feel that it
is important to give students and staff the opportunity to serve others. "For even the son of man did not come to be
served, but to serve and give his life a ransom for many" Mark 10:45. We feel that through serving others,
relationships can be built, and the gospel can be shared naturally. Our primary focus is on our local community,
and we have developed a number of ways to reach out.
Once a term we have outreach days involving as many staff and
students as possible. On these days we offer a wide range of
opportunities from picking up trash alongside the road, playing with the kids
at children's centers to mudding houses for widows.
We have an outreach committee that meets weekly to discuss other
opportunities and get out into the community.
Weekly outreach committee opportunities include guard visitation,
construction worker visitation, and singing to patients at the hospital.
Building relationships with Moffat, the local Bible College,
as we share and serve together, is another of our goals. Students are involved in weekly discipleship groups
that meet at Kijabe Girl's School, as well as Sunday morning ministries to Mai
Mahiu, the pediatric ward and CURE crippled children's hospital
As a school we try to be involved in community events such
as tree planting days which are planned by our local church. Finally, at least once a year we try to
arrange outreach trips for a select group of students to broaden their vision
for outreach.
